Hi, Hyaluronic acid
Hi, Hyaluronic acid, what are you?
It is a component with a high molecular weight that makes up our body.
It is mainly located in the dermal layer of the skin and absorbs and retains moisture and maintains the skin structure along with collagen and elastin.
Hyaluronic acid is a very good humectant that attracts moisture about 1000 times its own molecular weight.
However, it is unfortunate that the elasticity of the skin decreases as the content of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid decreases with age...
In the next post, I will share with you guys what are the benefits of applying hyaluronic acid cosmetics to our skin.
1. Hyaluronic acid, is it absorbed into your skin?
Usually
, hyaluronic acid is not absorbed into the dermal layer of the skin.
This is because the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid is too large.
(The molecular weight of hyaluronic acid in our skin is 3 to 4 million daltons, and the size of the molecular weight that can be absorbed by our skin is 500 daltons or less)
So, is there anything good for our skin?
Yes. It does not penetrate and forms a moisture film on the skin surface, which has the effect of tightening the skin. You can think of kelp or seaweed as they absorb water and swell.
The skin with such a moisture film becomes glossy, contributes to the improvement of fine wrinkles, and also helps to protect the skin barrier.
It can make your skin feel better. I think it would be fine as skin care before makeup.
2. Are there any hyaluronic acid cosmetics that are absorbed into the skin?
Yes. experiments have confirmed that (ultra)low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, which has recently been developed and is in the limelight, penetrates to some extent even into the deep layer of the skin (dermal layer). It seems to be able to supplement hyaluronic acid, which decreases with age, and it can mean that it can hold moisture from the inside of the skin.
It is also reported that this function of hyaluronic acid not only acts as a humectant that draws moisture but also affects skin regeneration and recovery.
Applying an ampoule or toner containing high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to the skin well and then sealing it well with lotion or cream is the most basic way to moisturize.
Proper understanding of skin care cosmetics
Do cosmetics play a role in supplying moisture to our skin?
For reference, cosmetics do not supply water (H2O) to the skin, but rather attract water around the area where the humectant is applied and seal it well so that the moisture attracted by the sealant component does not evaporate.
These two principles (moisturizing and sealing) must be well followed for proper moisturizing.
Applying only several layers of moisturizers or only sealants is not the correct way to moisturize.
